Hogy Vagy, Hungary! Unlike the French and the German, the Hungarian is a nationality that developed a strong musical culture coming from the common folks instead of the 17th century courts and churches. Their charateristic gypsy bands had been so popular and entertaining that this passionate, virtuosic and earthly music has become the iconic Hungarian style in everyone’s heart – even if some dislike it as it is not serious music in a proper setting.
In the early 20th century, Zoltan Kodaly and Bela Bartok searched for and recorded thousands of ‘authentic’ Hungarian folk songs systemically. Did they manage to redefine the Hungarian style? You tell us! Join us to celebrate the winter with a vibrant selection of Hungarian music!
